A Jam-Packed June at Leckford Estate

28 May 2026

As the days stretch toward their longest, the Leckford Estate transforms into a hive of activity. There’s something about June that makes the place feel particularly alive. The hedgerows are thick with elderflower and across the fields and gardens, there’s a steady sense of things growing and changing, a time when the diligent work of our spring planting begins to bear fruit.

It’s the height of the farming calendar, but it’s also the time that the estate opens its gates wider than ever to welcome the community.

As the working Waitrose & Partners farm, Leckford is always focused on food and stewardship of the land, but June brings a fuller programme of Leckford Estate events for those seeking family days out in Hampshire.

Open Farm Sunday at Leckford Estate

We believe that understanding where our food comes from is the first step towards a more sustainable future. On Sunday, the 7th of June, we are proud to participate in Open Farm Sunday, the farming industry’s national open day.

For one day, we pull back the curtain on our 2,800-acre estate to show the "how" and "why" behind Waitrose’s farm. It is a fantastic opportunity to meet our passionate team and have a day of discovery, from regenerative farming and soil health to the secrets of our Leckford rapeseed oil. What to expect:

  • 40-minute guided trailer tours, machinery displays and interactive talks from our farmers.
  • Nature & Biodiversity: Take a guided nature walk to see firsthand how we're enhancing habitats and supporting local wildlife across the estate.
  • Need to know: Entry is FREE, but booking is essential. The event runs from 10am-4pm. We are wheelchair accessible and assistance dogs are welcome.

Book your free place here.

RNLI Day at Longstock Park Water Garden

Sitting in one of the quieter corners of the estate, there is perhaps no place more serene in the South of England than the Longstock Park Water Garden. It’s the kind of place where you naturally lower your voice without really thinking about it. Paths wind through planting and water, everything feels just a bit removed from the outside world.

On Monday, 8th June, this beauty serves a greater purpose as we host our annual RNLI Day. Visitors can wander the winding paths and arched bridges, knowing that their entry fee contributes directly to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s life-saving work.

Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for children, with tickets available on the day at the gate (subject to availability) or in advance via Eventbrite for session times and to book your ticket. All admission fees go directly to the RNLI, helping support its rescue operations around the coast.

It fits well into wider Test Valley attractions, especially for anyone already exploring the area and looking for something that doesn’t need much planning or structure.

Father’s Day Ideas in Hampshire

Father’s Day falls on June 21st this year and at Leckford Estate it’s less about a single day and more about spending time together outdoors. If you’re looking for Father’s Day ideas in Hampshire that feel a bit more meaningful than a standard gift, an experience-led day at the estate is often a great place to start.

For the gardener, that may start at Longstock Park Nursery, which in June is a riot of colour. It’s a place for anyone who enjoys gardening, whether that’s choosing something new for the borders or simply wandering through and picking up ideas. It’s the kind of visit that tends to turn into a conversation rather than a quick stop.

For the foodie, at the centre of most visits is still the farm shop. It’s stocked with seasonal produce from the estate and trusted local partners, making it easy to put together a relaxed Father’s Day al fresco feast. You'll find a fantastic selection of quality ingredients and home grown treats, perfect for firing up the BBQ at home.

This month also sees the new Leckford Apple & Pear and Leckford Apple Cider arriving, something crisp and simple for a picnic or barbecue.

Altogether, it’s not about choosing a perfect plan. It’s more about having a few Father’s Day ideas and letting the day take shape once you’re here, whether that’s in the garden, on the course or around the table.

Making Sense of June at Leckford Estate

What stands out most about June is how much there is to do, but how little pressure there is to do it in any specific order.

Open Farm Sunday gives a clearer view of the working farm. RNLI Day brings a quieter moment in the gardens. The farm shop, nursery, café and wider estate fill in the spaces between.

For anyone looking for things to do in June or planning family days out in Hampshire, it’s less about fitting everything in and more about choosing a direction when you arrive. June at Leckford is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the countryside at its best.
